Southern Illinois corner Jamir Conn, who was initially committed to James Madison, will instead transfer to Nebraska.

Nebraska has bolstered its secondary by securing a commitment from Jamir Conn, a former defensive back from Southern Illinois, who visited the Cornhuskers over the weekend. He announced his commitment on social media Sunday evening.

Conn, standing at 6 feet and weighing 180 pounds, had a standout 2024 season at Southern Illinois. After entering the transfer portal, he initially committed to James Madison but decided to join Nebraska afterward.

A Kansas City native, Conn attended Lee’s Summit North High School, where some current Nebraska players also played, and where Nebraska analyst Jamar Mozee coached. These connections, along with Nebraska’s interest, facilitated his official visit this past weekend.

During his true freshman year in 2023, Conn played in 12 games, contributing on both defense and special teams with 11 tackles and three pass breakups. In his sophomore season in 2024, he started 11 games and amassed 43 tackles. Pro Football Focus logged 631 snaps for Conn in 2024, awarding him a solid overall grade of 74.5 for the season.

Once he arrives in Lincoln, Conn will have a redshirt year available and two years of eligibility remaining.
