Breaking: Huge Boost As Houston Rockets Sign Top-Tier To Two-Way Deal
The Houston Rockets continue to add to their frontcourt with the signing of Australian big man Jack McVeigh.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported that the Houston Rockets bolstered their roster on Tuesday afternoon by acquiring Jack McVeigh. McVeigh’s contract with the Rockets will be a two-way deal, meaning the Australian professional basketball player will spend most of the season with Houston’s G League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
McVeigh had an impressive campaign during the 2023-24 NBL season, averaging 16.5 points on 52.5 percent shooting from the field and 5.4 rebounds for the JackJumpers. The 28-year-old forward also demonstrated his ability to stretch the floor, shooting 36.4 percent from three-point range on 4.6 attempts per game.
McVeigh currently plays alongside Rockets big man Jock Landale on the Australian national team. In a 98-92 loss to Team USA, McVeigh played a key role in a near-comeback, finishing with 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the field.
The Rockets will have a crowded frontcourt for the 2024-25 season. Alperen Şengün and Jabari Smith Jr. are set to continue starting for Houston, while the additions of Steven Adams and Tari Eason will provide more depth.
McVeigh went undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft, but by signing with the Rockets, he now has an opportunity to play in the NBA.
