TOP-NOTCH: NC Now Challenging UNC State Basketball for In-State Recruit, the 6-foot-5, 170-pound guard
On Monday, UNC basketball officially joined the competition for Davidson Day School (N.C.) rising senior Isaiah Denis by extending an offer, nearly a month after NC State basketball head coach Kevin Keatts made an offer to the 6-foot-5, 170-pound guard.
Denis, a four-star recruit ranked No. 72 overall on the 247Sports 2025 Composite with about two dozen offers, is now the third 2025 recruit to catch the interest of both NC State and UNC. He joins Malachi Moreno, a four-star center from Great Crossing High School (Ky.) who has since eliminated the Wolfpack from his list, and Nate Ament, a five-star forward from Highland School (Va.) who hasn’t shown much interest in NC State recently.
Before receiving the offer from NC State, Denis visited Raleigh unofficially and attended the Wolfpack’s home loss to Duke in early March. “It was great,” Denis told Phenom Hoops’ Patrick O’Brien about his visit. “It was my second time being there for an ACC conference game. The environment was great both times, and I’ve been steadily building my relationship with [the staff]… definitely the school that’s been recruiting me the hardest.”

So far, Denis has scheduled only three official visits for his senior year: Pitt starting on Aug. 30, Ohio State the following weekend, and Michigan two weekends after that. He is also planning visits to a few more potential schools.
Meanwhile, NC State basketball’s only commit for the 2025 class is Ricardo Greer Jr., a three-star guard from Archbishop Alter High School (Ohio), who is ranked No. 161 overall on the 247Sports 2025 Composite.
