Recruiting Class: Northeastern Continues To Hit The Refresh Button

Following the departures of Alina Muller, Maureen Murphy, and Chloe Aurard to the professional ranks after last season, Northeastern will also see the graduation of captain Megan Carter and All-American goalie Gwyneth Philips this year.

The team is welcoming a promising recruiting class this season and has even more talent lined up for 2025-2026, particularly with Stryker Zablocki on the horizon.

Here’s an overview of Northeastern’s 2023-2024 NCAA women’s hockey recruiting class:

Lisa Jonsson, 2004, Sweden – It’s uncommon for freshman goaltenders to start in the NCAA, but Lisa Jonsson could immediately claim that role for the Northeastern Huskies. Standing at 5 feet 11 inches, she’s a former member of Sweden’s U-18 national team and had a strong season last year with MoDo in Sweden.

Tuva Kandell, 2004, Sweden – Joining Jonsson from Sweden is defender Tuva Kandell, who was recognized as the Best Defender at the 2022 U-18 World Championships. She had a solid season with Frolunda, one of Europe’s top clubs, and is known for her offensive contributions and mobility.

Tristan Thompson, 2006, Canada – A standout defender, Tristan Thompson is 6 feet 1 inch tall and possesses impressive agility for her size. She brings offensive skills and makes smart decisions with the puck. Her leadership qualities off the ice will be an asset to the Huskies, and she comes from a strong Etobicoke Dolphins team.

Morgan Jackson, 2006, Canada – Morgan Jackson is poised to help replace the offensive output lost from recent Northeastern graduates. A two-time member of Canada’s U-18 national team, she scored nine points in six games at the tournament last year and had an impressive season with Shawnigan Lake School, racking up 61 points in just 23 games.

Eloise Caron, 2005, Canada – Known for her aggressive play and physical style, Eloise Caron contributes significantly beyond just scoring. A former member of the Canadian U-18 national team, she is another key addition to Northeastern’s strong recruiting class, as noted by head coach Dave Flint.
