Douglas James-Taylor to join on loan
Drogheda United is thrilled to confirm the acquisition of striker Douglas James-Taylor on a one-year loan deal from Walsall FC, pending international clearance.
James-Taylor’s official commencement with the team will take place when the transfer window opens on Monday, July 1. Aged 22, he previously featured in the youth setups of Salford City and Stoke City. The player garnered senior experience while on loan from Stoke at Wealdstone and AFC Fylde, before embarking on a loan spell at Walsall for the 2022/23 campaign.
Following his loan stint, James-Taylor secured a permanent transfer to Walsall ahead of the 2023/24 season, amassing 63 appearances for the Saddlers.
Expressing his excitement about the new addition, Drogheda United’s manager, Kevin Doherty, emphasized the versatility James-Taylor offers across the forward line. Doherty, who closely monitored Walsall’s matches and engaged in fruitful discussions with the player, praised James-Taylor’s performances, particularly highlighting his pace, strength, and goal-scoring abilities.
