“What?!” Packers Fans Explode Over Viral Quarterback Trade Report With Browns (Report)

The Green Bay Packers have demonstrated to the NFL that they are not hesitant to make trades. Brian Gutekunst and the front office have significantly altered the franchise’s trajectory in recent offseasons.

It appears that another NFL team might be looking to secure their own franchise quarterback next.

Our own Robin Adams was the first to report on this:

One team in search of a starting quarterback in 2025 is the Cleveland Browns. Their starting quarterback, Deshaun Watson, recently suffered his second Achilles tear this year and will miss next season.

Curtiss Brown, who covers the team for SB Nation, mentioned Willis as a potential replacement:

“Willis, who was once a starter with the Tennessee Titans, was traded to the Green Bay Packers during the last offseason. When quarterback Jordan Love sustained a knee injury, Willis stepped in and performed better than he did during his time in Tennessee.

“Given how well he adapted to Matt LaFleur’s system (which shares similarities with Stefanski’s), Willis could be a viable option. However, would Green Bay be willing to trade him for the right deal?

“If Cleveland needs to part with a Day 3 pick, it shouldn’t be an issue. Willis possesses attributes to work with, and while his passing needs some polishing, he could be a consideration.”

The challenge with this suggestion is that Green Bay was fortunate to acquire Willis at the last moment before the season began. Last year highlighted the importance of having a reliable backup ready in case Love gets injured, and currently, the Packers lack one.
