The Buffalo Bills are going through a tough time after yet another postseason defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs, marking their fourth straight playoff loss to them. Even so, the Bills had one of their strongest teams since drafting Josh Allen in 2018, and many thought this was their chance to break through. However, they fell short in the AFC Championship Game, losing 32-29 and allowing Kansas City to advance to the Super Bowl. As the Pro Bowl approaches, it remains unclear if Josh Allen will be participating in Orlando. However, there was some good news from Buffalo on Tuesday, as Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry withdrew from the games. Bills running back James Cook, who many believed deserved a Pro Bowl spot initially, will be stepping in to take his place. He will also be joined by offensive lineman Connor McGovern, who is headed to Orlando as well.
Cook enjoyed an outstanding season, scoring an impressive 19 touchdowns during both the regular season and playoffs. He accumulated 1,009 rushing yards, 258 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns. As one of Buffalo’s most significant and frequently used assets alongside Josh Allen, Cook had a remarkable third season, solidifying his position as one of the top running backs in the NFL.
Cook gave his all during the AFC title game on Sunday night, rushing for two touchdowns with 13 carries for 85 yards. He also contributed with three receptions for 49 yards. Although the Bills would have liked to compete for the Lombardi Trophy, Cook has certainly earned his Pro Bowl selection—his second in his career.
