“Massive News” Spurs Add Another Point Top Elite To New-Look Backcourt

The San Antonio Spurs are strengthening their roster of guards as they approach their preseason opener in two months.

As reported by Stadium NBA journalist Shams Charania, Malachi Flynn has signed a one-year contract with the Spurs.

Details regarding the financial aspects of the deal have not been revealed.

Flynn will be joining a Spurs backcourt that lacked experience last season but is now blending youth and veteran presence for the 2024-25 season.

Earlier in the offseason, the Spurs acquired veteran guard Chris Paul on a one-year contract to provide stability at the point guard position. They also selected 6-foot-6 guard Stephon Castle with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

In addition, Flynn will be part of a core that includes Devin Vassell, Tre Jones, and Malaki Branham.

At 26, Flynn played for both the New York Knicks and the Detroit Pistons during the 2023-24 season. His standout performance came on April 3, when he scored 50 points for the Pistons against the Atlanta Hawks, although Detroit lost the game by eight points.

San Antonio’s preseason schedule kicks off on Monday, Oct. 7.
