Reports: A Scary Scene As Rays’ Elite Exits After Taking 100 mph Fastball To Face
Tampa Bay Rays utility player Amed Rosario was at the center of a frightening moment on Saturday, but it seems he has escaped serious injury.
In the first inning, he faced Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Jared Jones, who threw a 100-mph fastball that struck Rosario in the face, causing him to stumble out of the batter’s box. Fortunately, the jaw guard on his helmet absorbed most of the impact.
Medical staff from both teams quickly attended to him, and Rosario was able to walk off the field on his own, holding a towel.

Three innings later, there was positive news as Bally Sports Sun’s Tricia Whitaker reported that Amed Rosario had facial lacerations but no signs of a fracture.
A serious injury would have been a setback for Rosario, who is having a standout year in his career. Once a top prospect and the starting shortstop for the New York Mets, he has also played for the Cleveland Guardians and Los Angeles Dodgers. He signed with the Rays last offseason on a one-year, $ 1.5 million deal during free agency.
Before Saturday’s game, Rosario had an impressive batting line of .301/.323/.416, marking a career-high average. He has showcased his versatility by playing right field, second base, shortstop, and third base for the Rays, who value adaptable players.
