BREAKING NEWS: Houston Texans Acquire Superstar WR in Blockbuster Trade Proposal
Texans Eye Superstar WR D.K. Metcalf in Major Trade Proposal
The Houston Texans are expected to be in the market for a wide receiver this offseason, especially with Stefon Diggs potentially leaving in free agency and Tank Dell likely sidelined for 2025 due to a serious knee injury.
So, what steps will the Texans take to address this need? Will they target Tee Higgins or Chris Godwin in free agency, look to the NFL Draft, or explore trade options?
Jarrett Bailey of The Sporting News suggests the Texans might go for the latter, predicting they will acquire Seattle Seahawks star D.K. Metcalf in a major trade during the NFL Draft. Bailey proposes that Houston would send a third-round pick and a 2026 fourth-round pick to Seattle in exchange for Metcalf, who has been frequently mentioned as a trade candidate.
“Metcalf’s production dipped in Seattle’s new offense in 2024,” Bailey writes. “A fresh start could benefit both him and the Seahawks, who are likely entering a rebuild. Houston could capitalize on this opportunity by adding a dynamic playmaker opposite Nico Collins.”
Metcalf played 15 games last season, recording 66 receptions for 992 yards and five touchdowns. Now 27, he’s entering the final year of his contract and has seen his role diminish somewhat with the rise of Jaxon Smith-Njigba, which could lead the Seahawks to trade him.
Since entering the league as a second-round pick in 2019, Metcalf has earned two Pro Bowl selections and has surpassed 1,000 yards in three seasons, with a career-high 1,303 yards in 2020. The Ole Miss product would be a major addition to the Texans’ offense, providing a top-tier weapon for quarterback C.J. Stroud.
