Hartlepool United are reportedly planning to offer a trial to Abulai Sambu, the departing midfielder from Cheltenham Town, as per Gloucestershire Live’s report.

The 19-year-old is set to depart from Cheltenham Town as his current contract nears its end. Despite this, Sambu is eager to continue his professional football career and is willing to travel to the North East for the upcoming 2024/25 season.

How has Sambu performed at Cheltenham Town? Having joined the team in 2021, Sambu has had limited opportunities in the first team, making only six appearances since his arrival. Consequently, following the expiration of his contract with the club, he is now being released.

Sambu has made a positive impression during his loan spells in various Non-League settings, notably showcasing his ability by scoring two hat-tricks while on loan at Cirencester Town in October 2022.

After Darren Sarll took charge, Hartlepool United have parted ways with Callum Cooke and Tom Crawford, while Nicky Featherstone’s contract renewal remains uncertain.
