Power-house Top-100 Recruits In 2025 Class Schedule Visits To Dayton

The Dayton Flyers coaching staff is setting ambitious goals in their recruiting efforts. Reports indicate that two of the top prospects for the class of 2025 will be visiting the University of Dayton soon.

Shon Abaev, a 6-foot-7 forward from Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is scheduled to visit Dayton on August 23-24, as reported by Travis Branham of 247Sports.com. Following his Dayton visit, he plans to travel to Syracuse, Southern California, Auburn, Cincinnati, and Maryland.

Abaev was the third recruit from the 2025 class to receive a scholarship offer from Dayton, which was extended in March 2023. He is currently ranked 44th in the 2025 class by 247Sports.com, 36th in the ESPN 100, 37th in On3.com rankings, and 46th by Rivals.com.

Another highly-ranked target for Dayton is Zymicah Wilkins, a 6-foot-8 forward from the Christ School in Arden, North Carolina. Dayton extended an offer to Wilkins in July.

Recently, Wilkins narrowed his choices down to Dayton, North Carolina State, Georgetown, South Carolina, Clemson, Villanova, and Georgia. He has plans to visit Dayton on September 20, according to the HS Top Recruits account on X (Twitter).

Wilkins is ranked 86th in the 2025 class by On3.com, 80th by 247Sports.com, and 121st by Rivals.com.

In other updates regarding recruiting for 2025, Dayton has extended two additional offers recently:

• Tyler Kropp, a 6-foot-9 forward from Olentangy Liberty in Powell, just north of Columbus, announced on July 30 that he received an offer from Dayton. Other schools, including Penn, George Washington, and the College of Charleston, have also offered him scholarships this summer. He ranks No. 137 in the On3.com rankings.

• Treyvon Maddox, a 6-foot-6 guard from Lincolnton, North Carolina, and the Combine Academy, shared on July 27 that he received a scholarship offer from Dayton. He’s also drawn interest from Georgia Tech, Illinois, Wake Forest, and Virginia Tech this summer. Maddox is ranked No. 82 by Rivals.com.

While Dayton has yet to secure a commitment from any recruits in the 2025 class, they will have at least five scholarships available as Nate Santos, Posh Alexander, Zed Key, Enoch Cheeks, and Brady Uhl enter their final season of eligibility. Over the past two seasons, UD coaches have signed seven scholarships with transfers and four with freshmen.
