NC State Basketball’s Road Struggles Extend Past One Year

NC State basketball has faced tough luck in close games for over a month now. When the Wolfpack meets the UNC Tar Heels in Chapel Hill on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN or ESPN2), it will mark more than a year since their last road victory. The team’s latest defeat, a 74-73 loss to Stanford on Saturday, February 9, extends a streak of 10 consecutive road losses, dating back to a 78-77 win at Clemson on Feb. 17, 2024.

In their most recent trip to California, NC State finished with an 0-2 record, adding to their earlier neutral-court losses to Purdue and BYU in San Diego last November.

The team’s extended losing streak has dashed any hopes of an NCAA Tournament bid, but at this point, the more pressing concern is the psychological toll of an eight-game losing streak. This marks the longest such streak since the 2007-08 season, when Sidney Lowe’s team ended the year on a nine-game skid.

Up next for the struggling Wolfpack is a home game against the Louisville Cardinals (18-6, 11-2 ACC) at the Lenovo Center, scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday (ESPN2).
