Breaking: 49ers Announce Decision on Brock Purdy

Brock Purdy will remain the starter.

After spending the past two seasons as the San Francisco 49ers’ starting quarterback, Brock Purdy is in line for a new contract. While no deal has been finalized yet, the team appears fully committed to securing his future in San Francisco.

49ers team owner Jed York confirmed that contract discussions are already in progress and emphasized that the organization views Purdy as their long-term starter.

“I know we want Brock here for a long, long time, and I believe we will make that happen,” York said, per Josh Dubow of the Associated Press.

Despite being the final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Purdy has emerged as one of the league’s top quarterbacks.

He took over as San Francisco’s starter late in the 2022 season after injuries sidelined Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo. Purdy quickly made an impact, winning his first seven starts—including two playoff victories—before suffering an injury in the NFC Championship Game that ended both his season and the Niners’ Super Bowl hopes.

Last season, Purdy continued his strong play, guiding the 49ers to the Super Bowl, where they fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime.

While his numbers dipped this year and San Francisco finished with a losing record, Purdy has still proven himself as a reliable quarterback. The team remains committed to moving forward with him as their starter.

It remains to be seen what kind of contract Purdy will ultimately receive from the 49ers.
