Breaking: Sad Piece As Rutgers Loses LB Sensation To Torn ACL

Rutgers linebacker Mohamed Toure will be sidelined for the upcoming season due to a torn ACL, as announced by coach Greg Schiano on Tuesday. Toure was anticipated to be a starting linebacker and a vital part of the Scarlet Knights’ defense in 2024.

Since joining Rutgers in 2019, he has played in 37 games and recorded 4.5 sacks each season for the past three years (2020, 2021, 2023). Toure previously missed the entire 2022 season due to an ACL injury.

Last fall, he was named a semifinalist for the College Sports Communicators’ Comeback Player of the Year award, with 93 tackles (9.5 for loss), 4.5 sacks, and an interception.

He was also included on the 2024 Butkus Award watch list for the nation’s top linebacker. Rutgers was picked ninth out of 18 teams in the Big Ten preseason media poll, and they will kick off their season at home on August 29 against FCS opponent Howard.
