Stoke City reportedly join race for Preston North End and Portsmouth linked man

The Plymouth Argyle man has been linked with Championship clubs

Stoke City are now reportedly interested in acquiring the services of Mickel Miller, a winger from Plymouth Argyle whose contract is set to expire this month.

The 28-year-old has not yet agreed to a new deal with Plymouth, as confirmed in the club’s list of retained players released in mid-May, where it was stated that Miller, along with two other players, had been offered contract extensions. Following this announcement, rumors linked Miller to Preston North End as well as two newly promoted teams: League One champions Portsmouth and play-off victors Oxford United. However, reports suggesting Portsmouth’s interest were quickly dismissed by local media.

Currently, Stoke City is rumored as the latest potential destination for Miller. If a deal is finalized, Miller, known for his versatility and left-footed skills, would reunite with his former manager Steven Schumacher, who is gearing up for his first full season at the bet365 Stadium.

Liam Millar, who was on loan at Preston last season, has returned to his parent club, FC Basel. This departure creates an opportunity in the squad for a left wing-back. While Millar has experience playing in that role for Plymouth, there is currently no confirmed interest in him according to the Lancashire Post. In the previous season, he featured in 34 matches for Plymouth, contributing one goal and one assist.
