Just In: Missouri Football Head Coach Eliah Drinkwitz Makes Huge Powerful Speech To Mizzou fans

As Missouri’s fall camp comes to a close, Head Coach Eliah Drinkwitz addressed the media on Tuesday afternoon. The Missouri Tigers are gearing up to kick off their season in just eight days, hosting Murray State on August 31st.

After a historic season with eleven wins, expectations are running high. It’s been over 15 years since Missouri has been ranked this highly in the preseason AP poll, with the Tigers starting the season at No. 11 in the nation. Coach Drinkwitz made a noteworthy distinction between expectations and standards.

“Expectations are external; they reflect what others outside our building think we should or could achieve. Internally, we focus on standards. For us, the standard includes our practice habits, how we present ourselves, our focus and energy, the core values we uphold, and the goals we strive to reach. We’ve worked hard every day to meet those standards, and I’m proud of the consistent effort our players have shown.”

Coach Drinkwitz had a lot to share about the upcoming season. Although the program is experiencing positive momentum with encouraging news from camp, Missouri has not yet sold out their home opener against Murray State. He delivered a strong message to Mizzou fans, urging them to come out and support the team starting in week one.

“Our challenge is to sell out the first game. We’re a top-11 program in the nation coming off a Cotton Bowl victory, and if we can’t sell out, it indicates we’re not quite where we want to be as a fan base. That’s the reality. Don’t sit on the sidelines—come watch this team, get excited, and support them.”

It will be interesting to see how fans respond to Coach Drinkwitz’s call to action, and tickets for the home opener are likely to sell out soon. With higher expectations for 2024, Missouri is anticipated to come out strong right from the start next Thursday night.
