Reports: Auburn Football Secures a Commitment From a 2025 Blue-Chip Recruit From Top Elite

The Tigers have added another defensive lineman to their recruiting class of 2025.

The Tigers have added another defensive lineman to their 2025 recruiting class. Following a short pause in recruiting after Big Cat Weekend, Auburn football has gained a commitment from 4-star defensive lineman Nate Marshall from Oak Park, IL. Marshall has been a key target for the Tigers but took a winding path to commit.

Ranked as the #6 defensive lineman in the 2025 class and #2 in Illinois, Marshall initially committed to the Michigan Wolverines on April 22. According to his recruiting timeline on 247 Sports, he received an offer from Auburn last August. He first visited Auburn’s campus in October and returned for an unofficial visit this past April.

After committing to Michigan, Marshall came back to Auburn for an official visit in early June, where he met with head coach Hugh Freeze and defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams. He developed a strong rapport with King-Williams, which kept Auburn in contention despite his earlier commitment.

“Every time I come to Auburn, it feels like home,” Marshall said after his June visit, according to Auburn Undercover. “Now I really have just got to make that choice (between Auburn and Michigan) — those are really the last ones.”

He also took official visits to Alabama and Miami, but ultimately decided on Auburn just before the 2024 season. Marshall becomes the 23rd commitment in Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class, which is currently ranked #5 overall and #4 in the SEC. He is the fourth defensive lineman to join the class.
