The market for Metchie seems to be quite active. Jordan Schultz from Bleacher Report reports that several teams have contacted the Texans about the availability of the former second-round draft pick.

Metchie missed his entire rookie season due to a knee injury and a subsequent cancer diagnosis. He returned in Week 2 last year, but has fallen behind players like Nico Collins and Tank Dell on Houston’s depth chart.

With the Texans adding wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Ben Skowronek this season, they now have too many players for their 53-man roster. Metchie is entering the third year of his rookie contract, with two seasons left to go, and is owed a total of $ 3.2 million over that period.

Tim Patrick was anticipated to be the starting slot receiver for the Denver Broncos, playing alongside Courtland Sutton and John Reynolds. However, 2023 second-round pick Marvin Mims and fourth-round rookie Troy Franklin seem to be encroaching on his playing time. Franklin is also a college teammate of rookie quarterback Bo Nix.

He made his debut for the Broncos in 2018 and had a breakout performance in 2020, recording two 700-yard seasons in 2020 and 2021. Unfortunately, he missed the last two seasons due to injuries, suffering a torn ACL in 2022 and a torn Achilles in 2023. Patrick signed a one-year contract extension this offseason and is set to earn $ 1.125 million.

The Steelers have been looking to bolster their wide receiver depth since trading Diontae Johnson for cornerback Donte Jackson in March. Additionally, the team remains interested in acquiring star receiver Brandon Aiyuk from the San Francisco 49ers.
