Just In: The Birmingham Stallions have brought back a couple of familiar faces to the secondary
Birmingham Stallions Re-Sign DB’s Chris Jackson & JuJu Hughes
The Birmingham Stallions have re-signed a couple of recognizable players in the secondary: Chris Jackson and JuJu Hughes. Interestingly, neither player completed the entire season with the Stallions last year.

CB Chris Jackson joined the Stallions during the offseason, earned a spot on the roster, and started the first three games of the season. He struggled initially, giving up three touchdowns this year.

Jackson participated in only four games before getting injured against DC, leaving him on IR for most of the year. He recorded a total of 15 tackles for the Stallions this season. Re-signing him is an intriguing decision; while he has NFL experience with the Titans, he was notably the weakest corner in the secondary in 2024. However, with an additional year of professional experience, Jackson will have an opportunity to prove himself during the upcoming Training Camp with Birmingham.
S JuJu Hughes joined the Stallions midway through the season due to a series of defensive injuries.
Hughes played college football at Fresno State, where he had an impressive career, racking up 247 tackles, one sack, and seven interceptions. In his junior year, he earned Second-Team All-Mountain West Conference honors after recording 78 tackles, eight passes defended, and leading the conference with four interceptions.

He has spent some time in the NFL with the Cardinals, Rams, and Lions. Hughes was on the roster for a few weeks, stepping in for JoJo Tillery. Once JoJo returned, the Stallions released JuJu. In 2024, he recorded four tackles and also contributed a couple of plays on special teams.
Final Thoughts
It’s clear that General Manager Zach Potter sees potential in Chris Jackson, while JuJu Hughes is a promising young player who performed well in his limited time this season. With uncertainty in the defense—especially with John Chavis not returning—we’ll have to watch how things develop this offseason for Birmingham.
