Sycamore women’s basketball signs guard Denyha Jacobs

The head coach of Indiana State’s women’s basketball team, Marc Mitchell, revealed the enrollment of Denyha Jacobs to the squad on Wednesday morning. Jacobs, a 5-8 guard from Warren Central High School in Indianapolis, has just started her college journey with four years of playing eligibility ahead of her.

Regarding Jacobs, Mitchell expressed his excitement, describing her as a dynamic player. He highlighted her versatility on the offensive end, praising her ability to score efficiently from various positions on the court. Jacobs excels at driving to the basket and has exceptional court vision to set up her teammates when defenders try to stop her. Mitchell emphasized her composure in crucial moments and eagerly anticipates her impact on the ISU program in the upcoming years. #ASONE

Jacobs comes to the Sycamores following an impressive senior year at Warren Central High School where she averaged nearly 21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2.5 assists per game. She showcased her scoring prowess by shooting 43% from the field and 33% from beyond the arc.

Jacobs ranked among the top 20 scorers in the state, accumulating almost 500 points throughout the season with 22 games of double-digit scoring, including several high-scoring performances like a 34-point game against Hamilton Southeastern.

In her junior year, Jacobs maintained her scoring consistency by averaging 15.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.7 steals, and 2.5 assists per game. She continued to be a key offensive contributor, shooting efficiently from the field and three-point range. Jacobs concluded the season with 20 games of double-digit scoring, highlighted by multiple 20-point games, including a career-high 26 points against Pike.

Jacobs marks the first recruit for Indiana State’s 2024 class and stands as the sole freshman on the roster for the 2024-25 season.
