Getting to know new ECU QB commit Chaston Ditta
Austin (Texas) Lake Travis three-star quarterback Chaston Ditta explains why he chose the Pirates and shares his journey from The Lone Star State to ECU’s 2025 recruiting class.
Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas, has a history of producing top-tier quarterbacks, and East Carolina’s coaching staff is optimistic that they have secured the next standout prospect from the school in Chaston Ditta.
Ditta, a three-star recruit from Texas, publicly committed to ECU following his official visit to the campus. Despite receiving interest from notable programs like Colorado State, James Madison, Marshall, and others, the class of 2025 prospect opted for the Pirates.
His recruitment has been relatively subdued compared to previous exceptional quarterbacks from Lake Travis, mainly due to only starting half a season as a junior.
Notable quarterbacks such as Hudson Card, Garrett Gilbert, and Baker Mayfield have all excelled at Lake Travis before embarking on successful football careers. Mayfield, arguably the most accomplished among them, was the lowest-rated recruit of the trio and began as a walk-on at Texas Tech. He was a three-star prospect (rated 84 overall) during his time at Lake Travis.
Ditta, currently rated as an 82 overall three-star recruit, acknowledges the high standards set by Gilbert and Card, who were five-star and four-star recruits, respectively. Both Gilbert and Card were highly regarded prospects. Ditta aims to uphold the same level of excellence they displayed before him.
“I believe those guys set the bar. You have to reach that level,” Ditta commented. “There’s no room for excuses. You must strive for greatness and hold yourself accountable to that benchmark. You have to embody that caliber of player.”
