Four pivotal moments in the Dolphins’ 20-17 win over the Jaguars

The Miami Dolphins had a sluggish start in their season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but when it mattered most, Mike McDaniel’s team came through with a last-minute, come-from-behind win.

Here are four pivotal moments from the Dolphins’ Week 1 victory:

Jevon Holland’s crucial play

At a critical moment, Jevon Holland forced a fumble as Travis Etienne Jr. was inches away from scoring, which would have extended the Jaguars’ lead to 21-7. Kader Kohou recovered the ball in the end zone, resulting in a touchback for the Dolphins.

Tagovailoa-Hill connection

Right after the Dolphins’ defense prevented disaster, Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill reignited their chemistry with an 80-yard touchdown. This play brought Miami closer, cutting the Jaguars’ lead to 17-14 with 2:08 left in the third quarter.

Phillips delivers under pressure

Jaelan Phillips, coming off an offseason injury recovery, made a strong return in Week 1. Late in the fourth quarter, Phillips and Emmanuel Ogbah combined for back-to-back sacks, forcing the Jaguars into a three-and-out. This gave the Dolphins possession with 2:19 left and the score tied.

Sanders seals the win

Jason Sanders hit two critical field goals, including the game-tying one and the game-winner as time expired, securing the Dolphins’ 20-17 victory.
