Browns Agree to $10 Million Deal with Massive Offensive Lineman
The Cleveland Browns have secured a major addition to their offensive line in NFL free agency. After struggling with injuries and underperformance last season, the Browns have taken a step to strengthen their front line by signing former Washington Commanders offensive tackle Cornelius Lucas to a two-year, $10 million deal, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Lucas, standing at 6-foot-8 and weighing 327 pounds, brings a towering presence to Cleveland’s offensive line.
In 2024, the 33-year-old played 14 games and started seven for the Commanders, earning a solid 74.1 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, with a 79.1 pass-blocking score.
A Kansas State product who went undrafted, Lucas began his NFL career with the Detroit Lions in 2014, mainly in a backup role during his first three seasons. He later played for the Los Angeles Rams, New Orleans Saints, and Chicago Bears between 2017 and 2019, before settling with the Washington Commanders in 2020. Over his five seasons in Washington, Lucas started 38 of his 76 games.
With Jedrick Wills entering free agency and Jack Conklin being a potential cap casualty, the Browns were in need of a tackle. Despite limited cap space, they found a reliable option in Lucas.
