Cowboys Strengthen Offensive Line Depth with Veteran Free Agent Signing

The Dallas Cowboys have bolstered their offensive line by signing free agent guard Robert Jones, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The one-year deal is valued at up to $4.75 million.

Jones, 26, joins the Cowboys after spending his first four seasons (2021-2024) with the Miami Dolphins. The 6-foot-4, 321-pound guard played in 49 games for Miami, starting 30 of them. In 2024, he started all 17 games at left guard, accumulating 1,079 snaps, allowing 28 pressures, five sacks, and four hits, as per Pro Football Focus.

In 2023, Jones played at both guard positions, logging 261 snaps at right guard and 157 at left guard. A native of Rockford, Illinois, Jones played college football at Middle Tennessee from 2019-2020.

This addition provides the Cowboys with more depth at both guard spots, enhancing competition on the right side, especially after the retirement of Zack Martin. Last week, Dallas also re-signed veteran Brock Hoffman, who started seven games at right guard in 2024.

Jones is the Cowboys’ second external free agent signing, following their acquisition of veteran running back Javonte Williams on a one-year, $3 million contract.
