The Houston Rockets could be big players on the trade market

The Houston Rockets are preparing to compete for a playoff position in the Western Conference next season.

According to ESPN writer Kevin Pelton, the Rockets have the capability to make a significant impact in the near future.

“Currently, the Rockets find themselves in a distinctive position. They lead the NBA with eight players on rookie contracts, and unlike teams like Detroit and Washington, which have seven, Houston is vying for a play-in spot at this moment. With Udoka’s hiring in 2023, key additions through free agency, and several promising draft picks, the Rockets have successfully completed Phase 2 of their rebuild,” Pelton notes. “The choices Houston makes in the coming year will shape the success of Phase 3, impacting the entire league.”

When the Rockets traded with the Nets for future draft assets from the Phoenix Suns, there were reports that they were considering a deal for either Kevin Durant or Devin Booker. While it might not be those players traded in a major deal, the Rockets are poised to become significant contenders in the trade market.
