Vikings Strengthen Defensive Line by Signing Two-Time Pro Bowler from 49ers
Javon Hargrave, a two-time Pro Bowler with the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles, has agreed to join the Minnesota Vikings, further enhancing their defensive line as NFL free agency officially begins on Wednesday. Hargrave, who started his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, is set to head to the NFC North, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. The specifics of the deal have not been disclosed.
At 32 years old, Hargrave’s 2024 season was cut short by a torn tricep after just three games with the 49ers, where he recorded seven tackles and one sack. The previous year, he posted 7.5 sacks and contributed to San Francisco’s Super Bowl appearance. Since entering the league in 2016, Hargrave has accumulated 45.5 career sacks.
His standout season came in 2022 with the Eagles, where he totaled 60 tackles, a career-best 11 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.
