Reports: Crisis As Second Person Dies From Shooting At Detroit Lions Tailgate Party

A second person has died following a shooting at a tailgate party before the Detroit Lions game near Ford Field at Eastern Market on Sunday, as confirmed by Detroit police on Monday afternoon.

Detroit Police Chief James White reported that the incident occurred after a fight between two men escalated at Shed 6 in the outdoor market, resulting in gunfire.

A man in his 40s was killed, while a second man in his 20s, who was critically injured, later succumbed to his injuries, according to police spokesperson Dayna Clark, who did not specify the exact time of the second man’s death.

White stated that police have arrested a man in his 30s who holds a license to carry a firearm.

Eastern Market is a popular spot for Lions fans to tailgate, attracting hundreds during home games. On Sunday, the Lions played against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 1 p.m.

“Tailgating, drinking, and guns don’t go together,” White stated.

According to White, a fight between two men intensified around 4:30 p.m. They squared up for a physical confrontation when the suspect pulled out a firearm and fired at least two shots.

Loved ones of the victims are organizing a vigil at 7 p.m. on Monday at Shed 6, the location within Eastern Market where the shooting occurred.
