Jets Reportedly Reuniting with Dynamic Playmaker
The New York Jets have made several moves to strengthen their roster this offseason, despite not making any major splashes. One of their most significant moves was signing young quarterback Justin Fields, while they also added depth by bringing in receiver Tyler Johnson and cornerback/special teams player Kris Boyd, according to ESPN’s Rich Cimini.
“The Jets reached agreements overnight with former Rams WR Tyler Johnson and former Texans CB/ST Kris Boyd, according to the agency Team IFA,” Cimini shared.
In addition to those moves, the Jets have reportedly re-signed 27-year-old running back and special teams ace Kene Nwangwu on a one-year deal worth up to $2.5 million, as per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
“Nwangwu is returning to the Jets on a one-year deal for up to $2.5M, according to sources,” Fowler said.
Though Nwangwu only played in two games for the Jets in 2024 without any carries, he’s remembered for his 99-yard kickoff return touchdown against the Seattle Seahawks last season. At just 27 years old, Nwangwu was an All-Pro in 2022 as a specialist for the Minnesota Vikings. While this move may not seem like a game-changer at first glance, it adds depth to the Jets’ roster at an affordable price.
If the Jets can help Nwangwu return to his All-Pro form in 2025, his contribution could have a meaningful impact for the team.
