Reports: USC football tight end gets Crucial big injury update

USC tight end Lake McRae received a critical injury update on Tuesday following his exit from Saturday’s Michigan game.

The USC football team faced a challenging defeat on Saturday, losing 27-24 to the Michigan Wolverines. The Trojans were ahead in the fourth quarter, but the 2023 Big Ten champions rallied to claim victory. USC’s worries grew when tight end Lake McRae left the game due to injury, with a significant update provided on Tuesday.

McRae sustained a significant hit in the third quarter of Saturday’s game, resulting in a knee injury. He is expected to be sidelined for several weeks, though fortunately, his injury is not season-ending, according to head coach Lincoln Riley, as reported by USC football team reporter Keely Eure.

Wishing for a smooth and successful recovery for Lake McRae, the junior tight end entered his fourth year with the Trojans in 2024. He had previously enjoyed a standout 2023 season, recording a career-high 262 yards and one touchdown. In the early part of 2024, he has accumulated 134 yards on 12 catches.

Although USC did not secure a win against the formidable Michigan team, their performance demonstrated their ability to compete with top-ranked opponents. Following the loss, Lincoln Riley shared his thoughts on the team’s season ahead.

“We’re obviously disappointed,” Riley acknowledged, per Keely Eure. “But this season…there’s a lot left in it.”

USC’s record has now dropped to 2-1, but as Riley pointed out, they still have many opportunities to prove themselves. Additionally, the Trojans remain positioned in the AP Top 25, keeping their hopes alive.

2024 marks USC’s inaugural year in the Big 10, and the competition is certainly tougher. Along with Michigan, the Trojans now face the challenge of potentially competing against teams like Ohio State and Penn State for the conference championship.
