Ex-Notre Dame star wows again as NFL career keeps rolling

While he was never a Notre Dame football player, Brandon Aubrey has looked every big the part in the NFL.

Brandon Aubrey never played under Marcus Freeman, Brian Kelly, or any other Notre Dame football coach, but he did shine on the soccer field during his time at the university.

After a short stint pursuing a professional soccer career, Aubrey found greater success as the star kicker for the Dallas Cowboys. Since the beginning of his rookie season with “America’s Team,” he has impressed fans with his powerful and accurate long-distance kicks.

On Thursday night, Aubrey showcased once again what the Notre Dame football team missed by not having him on the gridiron. In Dallas’ 20-15 victory over the New York Giants, which improved their record to 2-2, the former Irish standout converted 2 out of 3 field goals, including an impressive 60-yarder.

While the 60-yard kick was remarkable, his missed field goal has garnered even more attention. Throughout his brief career, Aubrey has only missed three field goals, with just one coming from over 50 yards—and that miss occurred on Thursday night.

Following the Cowboys’ ability to “overcome” Aubrey’s miss, fans took to social media to discuss his kicking performance.
