Dolphins Trade Pitch Nets Former No. 1 Pick to Replace QB Tyler Huntley.

The Miami Dolphins are struggling significantly without QB Tua Tagovailoa, who is sidelined due to a concussion. The team’s latest attempt to fill his absence fell short, much like the previous two efforts. Tyler Huntley made his debut start for the Dolphins on Monday Night Football, where they suffered a 31-12 loss to the previously winless Tennessee Titans. Huntley completed 14 of 22 passes for 96 yards, took two sacks, and ended the game with a QBR of 12.1. Now at 1-3, Miami risks a lost season, potentially pushing the front office to seek a new quarterback capable of unlocking their high-powered, talent-rich offense.

There are several potential options, and on September 30, Bleacher Report’s NFL Scouting Department suggested the Miami Dolphins consider trading with the Carolina Panthers for 2023 No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young. “Both the Dolphins and Bryce Young would probably like a reset on their seasons,” B/R stated. “Though the Panthers reportedly aren’t looking to trade [Young] after benching him, the Dolphins could be in a position to overpay based on their needs. If anyone can help Young thrive, it’s a coach like Mike McDaniel, who understands how to work around a quarterback’s weaknesses.” The Panthers benched Young in favor of Andy Dalton after Week 2, a decision that surprised many across the NFL. Given Miami’s urgency for a quarterback and Young’s uncertain future in Carolina, a trade could be feasible.
