Oregon Ducks Recruiting: Dan Lanning on the Verge of Flipping 5-Star Kansas State Commit
The No. 6 Oregon Ducks are pushing hard for Kansas State’s five-star tight end commit, Linkon Cure. Can Ducks’ coach Dan Lanning and staff get the five-star to flip to the Ducks?
The Oregon Ducks are actively pursuing five-star tight end Linkon Cure, who is currently committed to Kansas State. According to 247Sports, he is ranked as the No. 2 tight end and the 26th best player in the nation.
In a recent appearance on KCSN’s Verbal Commitment podcast, Cure talked about his commitment to Kansas State and the interest from the Ducks, who are trying to sway him to reconsider.
Cure expressed his thoughts on his commitment to the Wildcats, stating, “I believe I made the right decision. But as everyone knows, it’s always wise to ensure you’re making the right choice. Anything can happen, and you want to be certain about your decision.”
Cure also noted that he might visit Eugene again soon, having already made a trip there in mid-June.
“I haven’t set any plans yet, but I’m interested. My parents have given me the green light, so it’s definitely a possibility, but nothing is finalized yet.”
He added that Oregon is the only other school he could see potentially changing his commitment before National Signing Day.
“I’d say right now, Oregon is the most likely option.”
Earlier this summer, Oregon nearly secured Cure’s commitment as he visited the Ducks in Eugene before heading back to Kansas to explore Manhattan.
“During that official visit before choosing K-State, I was leaning towards Oregon at that time. They made their interest very clear, and I felt it too. It was a tough choice.”
According to Gabe Brooks from 247Sports, Cure’s exceptional athleticism at the tight end position is a key reason he’s in such high demand.
“He’s a large, athletic tight end prospect capable of playing as a true receiver, creating mismatches in the passing game. He uses his speed and route-running finesse to find open space. He effectively combines strength and speed to be a threat after catching the ball. He’s athletic enough to challenge defenses vertically,” Brooks noted. “He consistently excels at winning contested catches and has the physical tools and strength to play various tight end roles at major college football levels and possibly beyond.”
So far this season, Cure has been a key offensive player for Goodland, demonstrating his versatility by taking on multiple roles. He has rushed for 107 yards and five touchdowns on 21 carries and made 13 receptions for 253 yards and four touchdowns, contributing to the Cowboys’ 2-2 record.
