Top Contenders Coach For Taking Over Mark Helfrich’s Position At Oregon Are Being Considered.
On Tuesday, the Oregon Ducks made public their choice to terminate head coach Mark Helfrich.
Helfrich issued a statement on the report through GoDucks.com.
“Being the head football coach at the University of Oregon has been a tremendous privilege. We accept this decision with respect and disappointment. Simply put – we did not win sufficient games this season.

According to a report by Dan Wolken and George Schroeder from USA Today on Nov. 26, Oregon was likely to dismiss Helfrich, as the school has started preparing for a new coaching search.
Wolken and Schroeder mentioned that Helfrich’s $11.6 million buyout made Oregon officials hesitant to dismiss him.
They were actually hoping for the Ducks’ 30-28 victory over the then-No. Securing a victory over Utah in Week 12 was sufficient to guarantee his return for a fifth season.
However, the defeat against Oregon State on Saturday resulted in Oregon finishing the 2016 season with a 4-8 record, the lowest under Helfrich’s leadership.
During his initial three seasons with the team, the Ducks achieved a record of 33-8, which included winning the Rose Bowl and making a national championship appearance in 2014.
