Miami Heat Add 24-Year-Old Rookie Following Several Roster Moves

The Miami Heat have been active on the roster front recently, and they wrapped up Thursday, August 27, with another addition to their training camp group.

According to Anthony Chiang, Miami has signed veteran forward J’Vonne Hadley to an Exhibit 10 contract.

The 24-year-old rookie earned the opportunity after putting together an intriguing performance during the NBA Summer League.

J’Vonne Hadley’s College Career

Hadley began his collegiate career in 2020 at Northeastern, where he spent his first season competing in the CAA. He then took the JUCO route for his sophomore year before making the move to the Pac-12 in 2022, joining the Colorado Buffaloes.

During his two seasons at Colorado, Hadley started 55 of the 58 games he appeared in. He shot 53.4% from the field and connected on 40.8% of his three-point attempts while averaging 10.2 points per game. He also contributed 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest.

Hadley spent the final two seasons of his college career at Louisville. He started 68 of the 69 games he played for the Cardinals, averaging 30.6 minutes per game. He converted 53.8% of his field-goal attempts and shot an impressive 41.1% from three while attempting 2.4 triples per game.

He finished his Louisville career averaging 11.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. After going undrafted in 2026, Hadley joined Miami for its Summer League squad, giving him an opportunity to showcase his skills at the professional level.

Miami Heat’s Recent Moves

It has been a particularly active week for Miami.

As expected, the Heat added Klay Thompson after the veteran sharpshooter reached a buyout agreement with the Dallas Mavericks.

Miami also signed veteran center Nick Richards to a one-year contract after he spent part of the offseason working out with the team.

Keshad Johnson, the reigning Slam Dunk Champion, also returned to Miami on a two-way contract, giving the Heat additional depth and flexibility in the frontcourt.

Now, Hadley becomes the latest addition. He will compete for a spot on Miami’s NBA roster during training camp, while the team’s G League affiliate provides a potential path for him if he does not make the final roster.
