ASU Running Back Collects 4th Big 12 weekly Award of 2024

Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season after his strong performance in a 42-21 victory over Oklahoma State on Monday.

The leading rusher in ASU accumulated 274 yards in all categories, the highest among all FBS running backs in college football games this week.

Skattebo gained 153 rushing yards with 23 carries and a touchdown, and also caught four passes for 121 receiving yards, scoring touchdowns from 50 and 36 yards.

The Sun Devils had not witnessed a player reach 100 yards rushing and receiving since Demario Richard accomplished the feat in September 2015.

Skattebo had previously been awarded the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week title for matches on Oct. 11 versus Utah, Oct. 5 against Kansas, and Sept. 7 versus Mississippi State.

In his second year playing for ASU, the running back has accumulated 1,001 rushing yards for the season, with four regular season games remaining.

He has accumulated 404 yards through receiving and scored a total of 13 touchdowns.

Skattebo may be on track to achieve one of the top 10 rushing seasons at Arizona State, but he is unlikely to participate in Saturday’s game against UCF due to an undisclosed injury, stated ASU coach Kenny Dillingham on Monday.

Skattebo will reach the top-10 by exceeding Xazavian Valladay’s 1,192 yards from 2022, and he will achieve a top-five season in ASU history by surpassing Freddie Williams’ 1975 season of 1,427 yards.

Eno Benjamin set the ASU record with 1,642 yards in 2018.
