South Carolina Land Massive Commitment for Shane Beamer

South Carolina lands commitment from 2027 three-star WR DJ Huggins

Recruiting momentum continues to build for the South Carolina Gamecocks, as head coach Shane Beamer secures another pledge for the 2027 class. On Thursday night, three-star wide receiver DJ Huggins became the latest addition, marking the program’s second commitment in just two days.

Over the last 24 hours, South Carolina has strengthened its future class with both four-star defensive lineman John Archer and wide receiver DJ Huggins joining the fold. Archer made his announcement on Wednesday, while Huggins followed shortly after on Thursday evening. The back-to-back commitments are expected to boost the Gamecocks’ 2027 recruiting ranking significantly, moving them closer to the top 50 nationally after previously sitting around No. 65.

Huggins, listed at around 5-foot-10 to 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds, plays at Harrison High School in Kennesaw, Georgia. Before choosing South Carolina, he had multiple high-profile offers, including from Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas, Boston College, and Kansas. After committing, he expressed his excitement on social media, enthusiastically celebrating his decision to join the Gamecocks.

Meanwhile, Archer, a 6-foot-4, 315-pound defensive lineman from Seventy-First High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina, also chose South Carolina earlier in the week, adding further momentum to the program’s 2027 recruiting push.

Overall, it has been a strong stretch for South Carolina recruiting, a trend the staff will hope continues as summer approaches and the 2027 class begins to take shape.
