Top Michigan State Hockey Commit to Spend Another Year in Juniors
One of Michigan State’s most highly regarded hockey recruits has decided to delay his arrival, choosing to play another season in junior hockey. Tommy Bleyl will continue developing with the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL for the 2026-27 season.
The 6-foot, 170-pound defenseman earned QMJHL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2025-26, recording 13 goals and 68 assists in his breakout campaign. While Bleyl is expected to be a key contributor for the Spartans, an extra year in major junior hockey could help him refine his skills before joining Michigan State in 2027-28.
Bleyl will also be eligible for selection in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft this summer.
