Tulane Adds Arizona State Transfer from Switzerland
Tulane’s newest transfer portal pickup adds size to the frontcourt.
Professional Background
The Senegalese forward spent the 2024–25 season competing in Switzerland’s top basketball league with the Lugano Tigers. He first made an impact with the club’s U23 squad, where he posted impressive numbers, averaging 14.7 points per game on 52.4% shooting while also recording 12.4 rebounds and 2.4 blocks. His production showed not only strong offensive ability but also a major defensive presence.
Salane later joined the Arizona State Sun Devils as a freshman and entered the season as the No. 9-ranked international player in the Big 12. However, limited playing time led him to enter the transfer portal after one year and ultimately commit to Tulane.
Size and Skill Set
Salane’s length and size immediately strengthen Tulane’s interior defense. His ability to rotate over for help defense, recover quickly, and contest shots gives the Green Wave another rim-protecting presence and could help spark transition opportunities.
Offensively, he uses his frame effectively around the basket, creating easy scoring chances near the rim. Despite his size, he moves well, especially in pick-and-roll situations where he can take advantage of open space.
He also possesses a polished fadeaway jumper and embraces physical play, though improving his boxing-out consistency could elevate his impact even further.
Tulane’s Transfer Class Growing
With the addition of Dame Salane, Tulane has now brought in eight transfer players — three guards and five forwards. Notably, the program’s last five transfer additions have all been forwards.
That trend suggests the coaching staff prioritized strengthening the frontcourt this offseason. Even so, adding three guards remained important after both starting guards entered the transfer portal in April.
