Florida State Seminoles Expanding Running Back Options in Recruiting Push
The Florida State Seminoles have widened their recruiting focus in recent months as they continue building out their running back board. With spring practice wrapping up in mid-April, the coaching staff has shifted its attention fully to recruiting, traveling nationwide to evaluate top prospects and extend new scholarship offers.
Florida State is actively trying to regain momentum in the 2027 recruiting cycle, with much of that progress expected to hinge on how the program performs during key recruiting months in June and July.
Seminoles Extend Offer to Four-Star RB Daylon Gordon
The Seminoles recently added another name to their running back board by offering four-star prospect Daylon Gordon. Gordon announced the offer on social media after speaking with staff connected to Florida State.
The Texas standout is a highly regarded recruit with close to 20 scholarship offers. Programs such as Oklahoma State and Utah have also become more involved in his recruitment this offseason. At this stage, he has one official visit set to Houston from June 4–6, while Florida State is expected to make a strong push to secure a visit of its own.
During his junior year at Wylie High School, Gordon totaled 140 carries for 840 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. He also contributed in the passing game with 39 receptions for 558 yards and four receiving touchdowns, along with a kickoff return for a score.
He surpassed 100 rushing yards in four games, highlighted by a standout performance of 238 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries in a win over Lakeview Centennial on October 30.
Gordon is currently ranked as the No. 345 overall prospect nationally, the No. 26 running back, and the No. 49 player in Texas in the 2027 cycle according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
Other Running Back Targets on Florida State’s Radar
Beyond Gordon, the Seminoles are also evaluating several other running back prospects, including Jayden Miles, Tai Phillips, Asa Barnes, and Marquis Fennell, as they continue shaping their future roster at the position.
