Huskies Zero In on Playmaking Safety Prospect
The University of Washington is making a strong push for standout safety Jaden Walk-Green, who recently included the Huskies among his five finalists and is scheduled to visit Seattle on June 5.
The Corona, California native has packed his June schedule with five official visits over just 17 days, planning stops at Vanderbilt, Washington, Arizona State, Kansas State, and UCLA. Despite the demanding travel itinerary, Walk-Green’s speed and energy on the field suggest he can handle it.
That explosiveness is exactly what has made the 5-foot-11, 185-pound defensive back one of the nation’s most intriguing recruits.
A four-star prospect from Centennial High School, Walk-Green delivered a monster junior season, recording 125 tackles and 10 interceptions across 13 games while helping lead the Huskies to an 11-2 record.
Even more impressive, five of those interceptions were returned for touchdowns covering 92, 88, 78, 68, and 49 yards. He also added a 27-yard fumble return touchdown and a 94-yard punt return score, showcasing his game-breaking ability in every phase.
Perhaps it’s a fitting sign for Washington that Walk-Green already plays for a team nicknamed the Huskies.
Washington recently missed out on a pair of highly regarded California safeties — Gavin Williams committed to USC, while Malakai Taufoou chose Oregon — making Walk-Green an even bigger priority for Jedd Fisch and his staff.
If the Huskies can land him, he could eventually form an impressive safety duo alongside fellow four-star recruit Isala Wily-Ava from St. John Bosco, who committed to Washington earlier this month.
Walk-Green’s production speaks for itself. He consistently finds the football, averaging nearly 10 tackles per game while posting standout performances that included 15 tackles against Santa Margarita and 13 versus Servite.
His dominant season earned him CIF Southern Section Defensive Player of the Year honors along with first-team MaxPreps All-American recognition.
As if his defensive impact weren’t enough, Walk-Green also handled kicking duties for Centennial, making 4 of 8 field goals and converting 63 of 65 extra points.
He describes his game as instinctive and prides himself on contributing every snap.
One of his signature moments came during a 63-14 win over Vista Murrieta, when he tipped a pass to himself before racing 88 yards for a touchdown. Along the way, he hurdled one defender, juked another, and broke a tackle before reaching the end zone in spectacular fashion.
