Scott Wedgewood Praises Nathan MacKinnon’s Toughness After Avalanche Fall Behind 3-0
Things continue to unravel for the Colorado Avalanche and star forward Nathan MacKinnon during the Western Conference Finals against the Vegas Golden Knights.
Colorado now trails the series 3-0 following a disappointing 5-3 loss in Game 3 at T-Mobile Arena. The situation became even more concerning when MacKinnon suffered an apparent knee injury during the second period after being struck by a puck fired by Vegas defenseman Shea Theodore.
MacKinnon immediately showed signs of pain and briefly exited the game, raising fears about his availability moving forward. However, the Avalanche star later returned to the ice and continued taking shifts despite clearly being uncomfortable.
Following the game, Colorado goaltender Scott Wedgewood praised MacKinnon’s determination and competitiveness, emphasizing how difficult it is to keep him out of action.
Wedgewood remarked that MacKinnon’s relentless drive and desire to win make him the type of player who refuses to leave the ice unless absolutely forced to. The comments highlighted the respect teammates have for the former Hart Trophy winner’s toughness and leadership.
MacKinnon’s status for Game 4 remains uncertain, but given the Avalanche’s must-win situation, there is an expectation he will do everything possible to suit up if medically able.
Despite Colorado’s struggles in the series, MacKinnon has still been one of the team’s top performers throughout the postseason. Entering Game 4, he leads the Avalanche in playoff scoring with 15 points, including seven goals and eight assists in 12 games.
