After Iowa Athletics officially unveiled the replacement for Carver-Hawkeye Arena’s longtime parquet floor, installing a maple hardwood court acquired from the 2026 NCAA Men’s Tournament Elite Eight, Hawkeye fans quickly took to social media to share their thoughts. The reaction was divided, with some praising the updated look while others lamented the loss of the arena’s signature parquet design.
Despite the flooring change, several familiar elements remain. A larger black-and-gold Tigerhawk logo still dominates center court, and the commemorative “22” marker honoring the spot of Caitlin Clark’s record-breaking 3-pointer remains in place. The lane areas are painted black, while gold accents highlight the restricted area and thin black outlines trace the 3-point lines.
The biggest visual update comes around the edges of the court. The sidelines and baselines now feature a black finish layered over the university’s Block I chainmail pattern, complemented by an interlocking “Iowa Hawkeyes” wordmark that incorporates the school’s iconic Block I logo.
Iowa opted for a clean, understated redesign rather than a dramatic overhaul, seemingly choosing to let the success of its men’s and women’s basketball programs draw attention. Still, the new court generated plenty of discussion online, and Hawkeye fans didn’t hold back with their reactions.
