Colorado Flips Former Ole Miss Commit Coderro McDaniel
The Colorado Buffaloes capped off the weekend of June 14 with a significant recruiting victory, landing three-star offensive lineman Coderro McDaniel after he decommitted from Ole Miss and pledged to Colorado.
McDaniel’s commitment came on the same day Colorado added three-star edge rusher Drew Sapp and offensive lineman Jayin Talib to its 2027 recruiting class, further strengthening an already growing group of prospects.
The 6-foot-7, 309-pound lineman from Brookhaven, Mississippi, announced his decision on June 14, giving head coach Deion Sanders and offensive line coach Andre Gurode another impressive talent to develop. McDaniel had previously committed to Ole Miss, a program that reached the College Football Playoff in 2025, but ultimately chose to continue his future at Colorado.
With his size and athleticism, McDaniel is expected to compete for a tackle position and could eventually form a formidable pairing with four-star offensive tackle Li’Marcus Jones, one of Colorado’s highest-rated commitments in the 2027 class.
McDaniel becomes the fifth offensive lineman to commit to Colorado, helping elevate the Buffaloes’ recruiting class to No. 35 nationally according to On3/Rivals rankings.
Jones headlines the group as a highly regarded prospect from Tennessee’s Brentwood Academy, while fellow offensive line commits Zaquan Linton, Jaiden Lindsay, and Jayin Talib provide additional depth and versatility. Linton brings a 6-foot-5, 295-pound frame, Lindsay is projected to move inside after playing tackle, and Talib offers flexibility as an interior lineman capable of playing center.
With five offensive line commitments already secured, the Buffaloes have made building the trenches a clear priority. McDaniel and Jones, in particular, have the potential to become a standout tackle duo capable of matching up against the top pass rushers in the Big 12.
McDaniel’s decision also continues a notable trend for Colorado on the recruiting trail: winning battles against SEC programs.
Earlier in the cycle, three-star defensive back Ba’Roc Willis flipped from Alabama to Colorado, while four-star wide receiver Jaiden Kelly-Murray switched his commitment from South Carolina to the Buffaloes. McDaniel is now the third former SEC pledge to join Colorado’s 2027 class.
Colorado has also landed prospects who turned down SEC opportunities without first committing elsewhere. Offensive lineman Jaiden Lindsay chose the Buffaloes over Florida, while four-star safety Gabe Jenkins selected Colorado despite offers from Georgia, Kentucky, and Florida.
Quarterback Andre Adams, one of Colorado’s earliest commitments, also picked the Buffaloes over several SEC schools, including Arkansas, Auburn, and Kentucky.
Under Deion Sanders, Colorado has continued to attract talent that traditionally gravitates toward SEC programs, helping build momentum for a rapidly improving 2027 recruiting class.
