Oklahoma Hosts Large Recruiting Weekend Featuring Commits and Top Targets
With summer camp season wrapped up, Oklahoma turned its attention to recruiting, welcoming more than a dozen prospects and current commitments to Norman for official visits over the weekend.
Several members of the Sooners’ 2027 class were among those on campus, including all five of Oklahoma’s offensive line commitments: Cooper Hackett, Kaeden Penny, Luke Wilson, Tyson Ross, and Isaac Coughran. The Sooners also hosted Texas offensive lineman Jaxon Lawler, who announced his commitment following the visit.
Lawler, a three-star prospect from Bushland, Texas, chose Oklahoma after weighing multiple options and discussing the decision with his family and coaches. Ranked as the No. 80 interior offensive lineman in the 2027 class by 247Sports Composite, Lawler also held offers from programs such as Wake Forest and Oklahoma State.
Among Oklahoma’s offensive line commits, Penny is rated as a five-star recruit, while Hackett carries a four-star designation. Wilson, Ross, Coughran, and Lawler are all considered three-star prospects.
On the defensive side, three-star defensive lineman Sione Felila made his official visit as well. The Hesperia, California, native is ranked among the top defensive linemen in the 2027 class and brings a sturdy 6-foot-2, 285-pound frame to Oklahoma’s recruiting class.
Several skill-position commitments also spent the weekend in Norman. Quarterback Jamison Roberts, one of the Sooners’ top offensive pledges, took his official visit after an outstanding junior season at Saraland High School in Alabama. Roberts threw for 3,370 yards and 37 touchdowns while completing 73 percent of his passes, and he added 641 rushing yards with 21 scores on the ground. The talented signal-caller drew interest from major programs including Georgia, Auburn, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Florida before committing to Oklahoma.
Safety Jaylen Scott, another Alabama product, also visited campus. A consensus four-star prospect from Mobile, Scott ranks among the nation’s top safeties and selected Oklahoma over offers from Florida State, Georgia, Texas A&M, and Michigan earlier this year.
Fellow defensive back Mikhail McCreary, a four-star cornerback from San Antonio, was also in Norman. McCreary ranks among Texas’ top prospects and has been committed to Oklahoma since September 2025.
The Sooners also added a new member to their recruiting class during the weekend. Wide receiver Malahn Green, a St. Louis native, committed to Oklahoma shortly after earning a scholarship offer at Brent Venables’ final summer camp. Green impressed coaches with his performance and ultimately chose the Sooners over other opportunities, including Nebraska and several Group of Five programs.
In addition to current commits, Oklahoma hosted several uncommitted prospects.
Defensive back Trenton Blaylock from Humble, Texas, was among the visitors. The younger brother of Oklahoma running back Tory Blaylock, Trenton is a three-star recruit who has also taken official visits to Vanderbilt and Texas this summer.
Another defensive back target, Jaiden Fields of Hutto, Texas, made his way to Norman after previously visiting Texas A&M, SMU, and TCU. Fields is considered a three-star prospect in the 2027 class.
Linebacker Case Alexander, an in-state recruit from Washington, Oklahoma, also took an official visit. The son of former Oklahoma tight end and longtime NFL player Stephen Alexander, Case is a three-star prospect who has attracted attention from programs such as Penn State, Arizona State, Texas Tech, Missouri, and Michigan.
The busy weekend allowed Oklahoma’s coaching staff to strengthen relationships with current commitments while continuing to pursue several key targets as the 2027 recruiting cycle gains momentum.
