Five-Star Receiver Xavier Sabb Commits to Oregon, Elevating Ducks’ 2027 Recruiting Class
Oregon added another elite playmaker to its 2027 recruiting class on Friday as five-star wide receiver Xavier Sabb announced his commitment to the Ducks.
Sabb chose Oregon over LSU, Tennessee, and UCLA, giving head coach Dan Lanning another significant recruiting victory. The Glassboro High School (N.J.) standout is listed at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds and is ranked as the No. 44 overall prospect in the 2027 class and the No. 2 player in New Jersey, according to 247Sports.
After making his decision, Sabb shared his excitement on social media, writing, “I’m locked in and ready to bring a national championship to Eugene, Oregon.”
His pledge becomes Oregon’s 23rd commitment in the 2027 cycle and the Ducks’ third five-star prospect, joining wide receiver Dakota Guerrant and edge rusher Rashad Streets.
Oregon Climbs in National Recruiting Rankings
Sabb’s commitment also gave Oregon a significant boost in the national recruiting rankings. According to 247Sports, the Ducks now own the No. 3 recruiting class in the 2027 cycle and currently sit atop the Big Ten.
Only Texas A&M and Notre Dame rank ahead of Oregon nationally, putting Lanning’s program in position to secure another top-tier recruiting haul after finishing with the nation’s No. 3 class in the 2026 cycle.
A Promising Future at Wide Receiver
Sabb joins an already impressive group of future pass catchers in Eugene. Fellow five-star receiver Dakota Guerrant, who committed to Oregon over Michigan, is ranked No. 23 nationally and is considered one of the nation’s premier wide receiver prospects.
With both Sabb and Guerrant expected to arrive in 2027, the Ducks could have one of the nation’s most talented young receiving tandems. Their combination of size, athleticism, and playmaking ability gives Oregon a strong foundation for the future as the program continues to pursue a national championship.
The Ducks could also have plenty of veteran talent surrounding them depending on roster turnover. Wide receivers Jeremiah McClellan and Dakorien Moore could still be in Eugene, while former five-star recruit Gatlin Bair is expected to make his collegiate debut this season and brings elite speed to the offense.
As Lanning continues to stack elite recruiting classes, Oregon appears well-positioned to remain one of college football’s premier programs for years to come, with Sabb’s commitment serving as another major step in that direction.
