Four-Star Offensive Lineman Nate Carson Commits to South Carolina Over Georgia, Clemson, and Colorado
South Carolina continued its recruiting momentum on Friday by securing a commitment from four-star offensive lineman Nate Carson, marking the Gamecocks’ third blue-chip pledge in three consecutive days.
Carson, a standout from Irmo High School in Columbia, South Carolina, selected the Gamecocks over finalists Georgia, Clemson, and Colorado. The 6-foot-4, 290-pound lineman is regarded as one of the top prospects in the 2027 recruiting class and ranks among the state’s top 10 players.
His commitment adds another significant piece to Shane Beamer’s rapidly growing 2027 class as South Carolina continues to build strong in-state recruiting momentum.
While Carson has primarily played offensive tackle, his frame and skill set could allow him to transition inside to guard at the collegiate level. According to 247Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks, Carson possesses the versatility to contribute at multiple positions along the offensive line.
Brooks describes Carson as a well-rounded lineman with tackle experience and plenty of long-term upside. He notes Carson’s strong lower body helps him generate movement in the running game, while his footwork and kick slide allow him to hold up effectively in pass protection. Carson also consistently displays solid hand placement and understands how to steer edge rushers wide while limiting inside counters.
In the run game, Carson uses leverage and angles effectively to create running lanes, and he has the mobility to pull and climb to the second level. Brooks believes Carson can continue improving his balance and body control, particularly when working in space, but projects him as a high-major prospect with the potential to become a multi-year starter and eventually play beyond the college level.
Carson’s commitment further strengthens South Carolina’s 2027 recruiting class and continues an impressive stretch on the recruiting trail for Beamer and his staff.
