Trade Proposal Sends Rangers After $25 Million Winger Jared McCann
The New York Rangers have been active this offseason as they look to bounce back in 2026-27, adding several notable players, including Pavel Dorofeyev, Sean Durzi, Marcus Pettersson, and Oliver Bjorkstrand. Even with those additions, the club could still benefit from another high-end forward to strengthen its top six.

One player who has emerged as a potential trade target is Seattle Kraken winger Jared McCann. The veteran scorer could provide the offensive boost New York needs as it aims to return to playoff contention.
Proposed Trade
Rangers receive:
- Jared McCann
Kraken receive:
- 2027 first-round pick (top-10 protected)
- 2028 third-round pick
- Taylor Raddysh
In this scenario, New York adds an established scoring winger, while Seattle gains future draft assets and a dependable depth forward to help balance its roster.
McCann Would Strengthen New York’s Top Six
McCann would immediately address one of the Rangers’ biggest needs by filling a top-six role, particularly at left wing on the second line.
He could fit alongside skilled forwards such as J.T. Miller and Alexis Lafrenière, giving the Rangers another dangerous scoring line. Alternatively, McCann could be deployed on the top unit with Mika Zibanejad and Pavel Dorofeyev, providing flexibility throughout the lineup.
Regardless of where he slots in, McCann would add another proven offensive threat to New York’s forward group.
Proven Offensive Production
McCann has consistently produced offensively during his time in Seattle. Last season, he recorded 20 goals and 40 points in 52 games, despite missing time. Before that, he posted at least 61 points in three consecutive seasons, highlighted by a career-best 40-goal, 70-point campaign in 2022-23.
That level of production makes him an attractive option for any team looking to add scoring depth.
A Move Worth Considering
As the Rangers continue to reshape their roster, pursuing a player like McCann could be a worthwhile move, especially if a contract extension were part of the deal. At 29 years old, he has the potential to become a key contributor for several seasons while helping solidify New York’s core.
With the Rangers still searching for another impact forward, McCann stands out as a logical trade candidate who could address a significant need and improve the team’s chances of returning to the postseason.
