Vikings Add Veteran Pass Rusher With 57 Career Sacks and Two Super Bowl Rings

The Minnesota Vikings are bringing veteran edge rusher Kyle Van Noy into the fold.

According to The Ringer and Netflix Sports’ Tom Pelissero, Van Noy is signing with Minnesota. The 35-year-old linebacker will initially join the Vikings’ practice squad as he works his way back into football shape.

The move also reunites Van Noy with defensive coordinator Brian Flores. The two previously worked together with the New England Patriots, where they were part of two Super Bowl-winning teams.

The Athletic’s Alec Lewis also confirmed the signing, noting that Van Noy gives Minnesota some much-needed depth at edge rusher. The position has been a concern for the Vikings for much of the offseason, and Tyler Batty’s torn ACL created an even greater need for reinforcements.

Van Noy’s familiarity with Flores and his defensive system should also help make the transition to Minnesota smoother.

Vikings Add Experienced Super Bowl Winner

Van Noy spent the 2025 season with the Baltimore Ravens and brings plenty of NFL experience to Minnesota.

The veteran defender originally entered the league as a second-round selection by the Detroit Lions. Over the course of his career, he has also played for the Los Angeles Chargers, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots and Ravens.

Van Noy appeared in 15 games for Baltimore last season, making 13 starts. He has been a starter in 115 of his 173 career appearances.

His résumé includes two Super Bowl championships with New England as well as a Pro Bowl selection.

Across his NFL career, Van Noy has accumulated 561 total tackles, 57 sacks, 14 forced fumbles, 10 fumble recoveries and four interceptions.

The Vikings will initially take a measured approach by placing him on the practice squad, but his experience and versatility could make him an important addition once he is ready to contribute.

For Minnesota, the signing provides an experienced option at a position that suddenly needed additional depth heading into the season.
