Breaking: Duquesne Merits Front-Row Sit In Another Elite Prospect’s Highly Rated List
It’s an exhilarating time for Duquesne basketball fans!
The Dukes are riding high after a fantastic conclusion to the 2023-24 season, which saw them reach the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament under coach Keith Dambrot. This momentum has carried into the summer. With new head coach Dru Joyce III at the helm, the Dukes have aggressively focused on recruitment, landing a strong transfer class and now attracting attention from notable high school prospects.
On Sunday, another four-star prospect added Duquesne basketball to his list of top schools. Gevonte Ware, a 6-foot-9 forward from Charlotte, North Carolina, has named the Dukes alongside Rutgers, Wake Forest, and DePaul, making Duquesne the only mid-major program on his list, similar to Dezmon Briscoe.
Ware is ranked as a four-star recruit by On3.
He plays for 1 of 1 Academy and recently completed an official visit to Wake Forest. Shortly after that trip, Ware mentioned to Pittsburgh Sports Now that he is currently in Pittsburgh for an official visit with Duquesne, which will last until Tuesday, August 6.

As mentioned earlier, Ware isn’t the only four-star prospect to list the Dukes as one of his final schools this summer. Briscoe, a 6-foot-8 forward from the Midwest, has also included Duquesne on his list.
The Dukes are the only mid-major team in Briscoe’s selection, which also features DePaul, Xavier, Cincinnati, Iowa, and Butler. He informed PSN that he plans to visit all six schools, with a trip to Duquesne scheduled for August 23-25.
Briscoe is ranked as the No. 120 player in the 2025 class from Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis, and he is a four-star recruit according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.
